Court Mandate Program GraceWay Recovery Residence is working in conjunction with the criminal justice system in offering an alternative to the courts for inmates whose incarceration is directly related to alcohol and/or drug use. Residents under the court mandated program will serve their sentence in GraceWay, as outlined by the presiding judge and probation officer, but will also learn the steps necessary to address and change their addiction problem. This program will allow a judge to hand down a sentence, yet possibly decrease the chance of reappearance in court by offering rehabilitation. The resident will be required to meet all the criteria of the GraceWay Recovery Program as well as work, group sessions, and 12-Step meeting attendance. Other than the times allotted for these activities, the resident is limited to the house grounds. Supervising officers for mandated residents, as well as GraceWay Staff, reserve the right to deny any privileges that are extended to the non-mandated residents. The key advantage of this program is to the woman herself. The program allows the individual to become an acceptable and productive citizen. It allows her to interact with society, yet still receive the support and structure so vital to those learning how to live sober. If the program does not work for the individual, then probation or parole can be revoked, and she is then re-incarcerated.
